Dreamscape Glamping: A Dream Waikanae Getaway

emilysintransitNovember 2, 2021

Hidden on the hills of Waikanae is a canvas tent. But it’s not like any tent you’ve ever seen before. Peaking through the trees as you drive up the hill, this magical structure is filled with comfortable bedding, seating for days and the most spectacular outdoor area you’ve ever seen. This is Dreamscape Glamping, and if you’re looking for an idyllic weekend away, then it’s the perfect spot for you.

Dreamscape has been on my radar for some time, and I decided it would be the perfect spot to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. It has been loving created by Lisa, a Kapiti Coast native who’s wanted to create a unique and luxurious experience that others can enjoy. After our weekend away, I can confidently say that Lisa has achieved her goal!

The tent sits overlooking the countryside with a clear view of the ocean and Kapiti Island. The deck is the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the sunset or just enjoy the scenery through out the day with a good book in hand. Every detail has been carefully considered to ensure you’ll have everything you need. If you’re looking for a place to get away from it all and indulge yourself, then you can’t go past Dreamscape Glamping.

Getting to Dreamscape Glamping

Dreamscape Glamping is 5 minutes from the Waikane main centre. We drove from Wellington on Friday getting there in time for the 3pm check in. The drive took 1 hour, which included stopping at the supermarket to pick up some supplies.

The tent is very remote, so driving is the best way to get there. Before you arrive, you’ll receive a guide which you can download onto your phone. It contains everything you need to know about check-in and how to use everything. The tent also has wifi, so while you might feel like you’re away from it all, you can still connect if you need to.

Things to do at Dreamscape Glamping

The main point of staying somewhere like Dreamscape Glamping is to sit back, relax and enjoy everything the place offers. Start your stay with a DIY charcuterie board and bubbles on the day bed before heading to the bar area to make pizza’s in the outdoor pizza oven. Lisa provides pizza dough and homemade tomato paste, so all you need to bring is the toppings. You can also order extra pizza dough for $6, which I highly recommend because it was absolutely delicious!

Wine on the day bed

After dinner, it’s time to enjoy one of the main drawcards Dreamscape offers. The dual outdoor bathtubs. These bathtubs are the perfect spot to relax and wash all your stress away. To elevate the atmosphere even more bath salts and candles are provided, and the umbrella allows you to continue to enjoy your soak if the rain decides to make an appearance (which it did for us).

After your soak, it’s time to light the fire and enjoy an evening under the stars. Once again, bad weather has been taken into account, so if it starts to rain, you can head back to the undercover bar area and relax in front of the gas heater.

When bedtime comes, you simply close up the tent and bundle yourself in the ridiculously comfortable bed. Before you know it, you’ll be awake and ready to enjoy your coffee on the deck with the stunning views of Kapiti Island.
