Restaurants in Wellington to Treat Yourself

Going out for a meal is a great way to get out of cooking dinner that night, but sometimes it’s nice to take it up a notch and turn the meal into an experience. I love getting dressed up and treating myself to something special. Here are four restaurants in Wellington that are guaranteed to take your dining experience to the next level.

Logan Brown

Logan Brown was the first fancy restaurant I went to as an adult. It was my 18th birthday, and my parents took me there to celebrate. Dining there opened my eyes that going out for dinner isn’t always about convenience or food; it can be about the whole experience.

Logan Brown is in a beautiful building on Cuba street that used to be a bank. The restaurant is stunning but also warm and welcoming. Their menu is based around seasonal ingredients and changes regularly. You can currently enjoy a 3-course dinner there for $70pp, which is excellent value for an extra memorable experience.

Jano

Jano is in an adorable cottage on Willis street. It’s the perfect place to indulge in some fantastic food in a homely environment. The restaurant works with local farms, producers and suppliers to create their seasonal and sustainable menu.

They are currently offering their tasting menu which is $105pp with an optional add on for beverage matches. I’ve had their tasting menu before, and it was a great way to try things that I usually wouldn’t have ordered. Make sure you book and if you have any dietary requirements, let them know, and they should be able to accommodate.

Noble Rot

I’ve written about Noble Rot before and for good reason. They opened in 2016 to bring an elevated food and wine experience to Wellington; this is precisely what they have done.

I first went to Noble Rott for a degustation dinner with wine matches. We ended up being there for 3 hours, and every moment was next level and delicious.

It’s worth treating yourself to the degustation menu, but you’ll still have a fantastic time if you order direct from their regular menu. Or if you’re looking for something a bit different you can try one of the wine tasting programs they offer.

Dockside

When it comes to restaurants in Wellington Dockside will hold a special place in my heart because it where I got married. When they’re not hosting wedding’s, they are an amazing waterfront restaurant. Their menu focuses on fresh seafood and local produce, which you can enjoy whilst looking at the stunning view of the harbour.

The offer a degustation menu, a la carte dining and even have an entirely plant-based menu. Whatever you choose, it’s going to be delicious. There’s a reason why several of my wedding guests said, “This is hands down the best food I’ve ever had at a wedding.”
